Member ’s research introduced in a TV interview

Andrés OSORIO, a PhD student in our laboratory, conducted an interview about his research, a wet-activated scalable SMA linear actuator, that was broadcasted on television in his home country (Mexico, Azteca 7 channel).

Prof. Daisuke Matsuura won the Silver Best Research Paper Award at MEDER2021

Prof. Daisuke Matsuura won the Silver Best Research Paper Award at 5th IFToMM Symposium on Mechanism Design for Robotics (MEDER2021), held in Jun. 23-25, 2021, online, for the presentation entitled “An Extendable Continuum Robot Arm to Deal with a Confined Space Having Discontinuous Contact Area”. This work is done with Ryota Shioya, a doctor student in our lab, and Prof. Yukio Takeda.

Three students from our laboratory won Awards

The Graduation Ceremony was held at our university on March 26, 2021, and 3 PhD students, 10 master’s students, and 6 bachelor’s students graduated from our laboratory.

On the same day, three students of our laboratory won the following awards.
・Mr. Nanato ATSUMI (M1) received the Best Presentation Award at the Interim Presentation of the Master’s Thesis in the mechanical course.
・Ms. Mari KURATA (B4) received the Tokyo Institute of Technology Excellent Student Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
・Mr. Takamaru SAITO (B4) received the Hatakeyama Prize from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Prof. Yukio Takeda won the Bronze Best Application Paper Award at Third International Conference of IFToMM ITALY (IFIT2020), held in Sep. 9-10, 2020, online, for the presentation entitled “A New Rehabilitation Device for Finger Extension Movement”. This work is done with Andrea who was international student in our lab.
